How do I find stuff I want?

Looking for a particular video game? Want to see if there’s an Optimus Prime action figure for trade? Simply type what you want into the search bar and if it is listed, you will see it. There are different categories to search in: item, set, collections, want list and for trades list. What does that all mean? It means you can view items that are up for trade as well as the personal collections and want lists of members. If there is something in particular that you want, list the item in your own want list and when it is listed by another member, you will receive a notification.

How do I trade with someone?

If you see something that you like on a members “for trade” list, just click on “request a trade” on their profile page (its right below their picture, along with lots of other handy things). Clicking that will bring you to a trade request page where you fill out a little form where you state what you’re going to give, what you’d like to receive, and any terms that you want to list regarding the trade. Then just press send and that’s it!

Remember that the user reserves the right to accept or deny the trade. If he/she accepts, the trade is logged on both accounts. And if he/she doesn’t, then don’t feel bad. There are other fish in the sea.

You may view the status of your trades by clicking on the “view trades” link on your profile page. Once the items have been sent and received, you have to update your status by clicking “sent” or “received” (depending on which end you’re on) in your trades’ status.

How can I report undelivered goods?

Trading at iswapyou.com is performed under an assumed risk. Meaning, you trade with full knowledge that things may possibly go wrong. If you have failed to receive goods from a trade, you may report the user to us for mediation. The best way to avoid scenarios like that is to trade with people that you know are credible and have high ratings.

For all reports please email abuse@iswapyou.com, or use the "report user" link on your profile page.

How do I add an item to one of my collections?

To add an item, simply click the “add item” link on your profile admin page and complete the form.

If you want to list many items at once, you can use the batch upload option. Currently this only works for players of the game Magic: The Gathering Online, however we are working on allowing players of all online games the ability to upload a list of their items easily.

How do I delete items from my collections?

To delete an item, go to your "my profile" page using the link at the top of the window, and click on the “manage my collections” link. A delete link will be shown next to each item in your collection. Click it, and poof! No more item.

How can I report a user?

Click the link on their profile ‘Report this User’ and fill out a short message on why we should take a look at the profile.

Help! I forgot my password!

How can I add or delete a friend?

On the profile page of the member, click “add this user as a friend,” located under their profile pic. If you want to delete a friend, click the “view/edit friends” link and your editable friends list will be displayed. Select the friend you don’t like anymore and press the “delete friend” button to show him who’s boss!

Information about scams

While the majority of iswapyou.com users do not commit fraud or scams, there are a few who will attempt to take advantage of you.

Beware of “Nigerian 419” scammers, and those attempting Overpayment Fraud - when an individual tries to offer you a check for more than the amount of the item, requesting that you wire them back the difference. The check is usually fraudulent, you will be left owing a bank the money instead, and will have lost your real money to the scammer!

Here are a few ways to identify potential scams:

  • * Overseas or out-of-town buyer
  • * Offer involves a cashier’s check, money order, or wire transfer
  • * Offer involves an escrow service (BidPay, Squaretrade, etc.) Bidpay was shut down in 2005, and SquareTrade exclusively deals with eBay!
  • * Offer involves buyer’s own personal shipping service or personal FedEx account

How to protect yourself:

  • * Do some background research on the buyer or trader’s profile, even ask for a phone number to do a double check..
  • * Never accept a check for more than the purchase price.
  • * Never agree to refund overpayment via wire transfer or any other means
  • * Never give out personal information such as Social Security or checking account numbers
Please report scammers to ISwapYou so we can remove their accounts and prosecute any violations.

How do I change my e-mail address?

Changing the e-mail address associated with a ISwapYou.com account is not yet permitted.
