How to add Google Adsense to your WordPress blog posts

Theres a few ways to add Google Adsense to your WordPress blog posts. One of the easiest ways is to simply switch to the “Code” tab when writing a post, and then post your adsense code from Google Adsense. See the images below for if you’re not sure where either of these is.

Adsense Panel

Adsense code wizard

After logging in to your account at Google Adsense, click Adsense setup > Get Ads. Next you log in to WordPress, start writing or editing a post, and click the WordPress’ “Code” tab as shown below.

The Code tab is useful whenever you want to put any sort of custom HTML or javascript in to your post. I find myself usually when I just can’t seem to get WordPress to make my article look just right.

If you find yourself adding a lot of adwords to your articles you will definitely want a shortcut. Thankfully, Phil Hord has created a plugin to simplify the process. The WordPress Adsense plugin will give you a little button in your WordPress “shortcut bar” that will post your adsense code in to your articles. It does take a few minutes to set up, but it saves you a LOT of time once it’s good to go. The install instructions for the plugin are here.

Have fun, and happy blogging!
