Todays nerdgasm is the ever fun, ever cheap Woot.com. “Woot!” (yes, the name has an exclamation point – i know… they’re insane) has is the purveyor of absolutely rediculous deals. There have been $16 one GB name brand MP3 players. I bought a 250 GB hard drive for $50 in 2006 (that’s half price what you’ll get it for now, and it’s almost 2008 folks)! Companion sites sellout.woot and wine.woot also have amazing deals.
What is the catch? Well, Woot! will only sell one item a day until it sells out. Sellout.Woot! will sell an item until it sells out, and then will move on to another successive item. Sellout.Woot!’s deals are not usually as good as OG woot’s, but are usually still worth a look if something you need happens to come up. Wine.Woot! well… They only sell wine, but if you love cheap wine then this is your site. I guess the Woot! guys are real winos.
Woot! also has built up a fun community with its podcasts and forums. Theres usually a lot of people who log on just to poke fun at the days product. Theres even people who build 3rd party software to track what sells on Woot! and sellout.woot. Woot! has a dedicated and quite nerdy audience indeed.
Anyway, when you’re bored at work or just need a fix of cheap stuff, give Woot! a try. It might just make your nerdy existence easier, or a bit more fun. And that, sirs, is what nerdgasms are all about.
